How to use Interview Coach
Install the app, sign in, manage credits, and use AI feedback for interview practice and learning.
Quick start
Download
Install the Mac app from the landing page. macOS 14 or later is recommended.
Sign in
Use Google sign-in so credits, billing, and referrals stay connected.
Practice
Capture a practice prompt, review the AI explanation, and compare it with your own answer.
Recommended practice workflow
- Start with a practice problem, mock interview prompt, or saved question.
- Try solving it yourself first before asking the app for help.
- Use the AI response to find gaps in approach, complexity, edge cases, and communication.
- Rewrite the answer in your own words and practice explaining it out loud.
Use Interview Coach for learning, mock interviews, and preparation. Follow the rules of any real interview, exam, or hiring platform.
Shortcuts and controls
These controls are designed for fast practice sessions. If a shortcut does not respond, another macOS app may already be using the same key combination.
Start capture and ask
Main buttonChoose a screen or window source, add an optional note, then start a capture that sends the practice prompt for AI feedback.
Capture now
⌘⇧CCapture the currently selected source again without starting a new session. Use this after the prompt changes.
Auto capture
DisabledAutomatic recapture is currently disabled. Use Capture now when the practice prompt changes.
Toggle click-through
⌘⇧MLet mouse clicks pass through the response window to the app underneath, or turn it off when you need to interact with the response window.
New session
⌘⇧NReturn to the main window, clear the current response context, and start a new practice capture flow.
Change transparency
Response headerUse the response opacity control to make the answer window more or less transparent. Use auto background when you want it to match the captured screen color.
Suggested workflow
- Select the source that contains your practice question.
- Click Capture and ask for the first analysis.
- Use ⌘⇧C to capture updated prompts without resetting the session.
- Use ⌘⇧C again whenever the practice prompt changes.
- Use ⌘⇧M and the transparency control to keep the response window out of the way while practicing.
Account and credits
The account page shows your email, plan status, total credits, credit bucket breakdown, billing portal, and referral history.
After login, the header becomes an account menu with links to Account, Refer a friend, and Sign out.
Paid plans are handled through Stripe Checkout and the billing portal. The desktop app should use the same signed-in account.
Referrals
Open the referral page while signed in to copy your unique referral link. Eligible new-user referrals extend your access after the referral is recorded.

I cannot sign in
Refresh the page, try Google sign-in again, and confirm the browser allows redirects back to interview.hack2fire.com.
My credits look wrong
Open the account page and refresh. If billing or referral credits are missing after a few minutes, contact community support.
The app cannot analyze a prompt
Check that you are signed in, have available credits, and are using a clear practice prompt or screenshot.
Billing portal does not open
Sign in first, then open Account and select Billing portal. The portal is available only for accounts with Stripe billing history.

What is Interview Coach for?
It is for interview preparation, mock practice, and learning how to structure stronger answers.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Sign-in connects your access window, referral link, and billing status across the website and app.
How does access work?
Paid plans use an access expiry date. New unpaid users get a small free test allowance before choosing a plan.
